We can’t control what happens to us, but we can control how we react to it.

Much of our personality and the way people perceive us is by the way that we react. Our days are filled with unexpected events and situations that is hard to predict or be fully prepare to what’s coming.

From the people that we unexpectedly cross paths on the supermarket, to the car problem in the morning or the unexpected comment you received during a presentation. Nothing is prescribed, nothing follows 100% a structure that shield us from unexpected situations.

It’s for that reason that we need to be expecting the unexpected. We need to allow ourselves to be in the present and have the mental presence to react to changes within the context of our surroundings.

That means that, only if you are well submerged in the presence, is when you are able to react to any bad news with the cleverness as significant or greater than the actual bad news itself.
